Hi, I am Alexis, the founder of ACCESS TO ECON!

I became hooked on economics while participating in the college-level "Solutions to Wicked Problems" course at the Virginia Summer Residential Governor’s School Humanities program. It was there that I discovered its power to tackle societal issues using data. Plus, I found a kismet language for what years of occupational therapy (OT) had already taught me about trade-offs, incentives, and opportunity costs—principles I had been applying to solve daily problems without even realizing it.

While exploring economics, I sought out role models but found far more males than females. I preferred mentors to trophies, but youth resources often focused on competitions. This lack of representation is a real problem. As of 2022, only 34% of undergraduate economics degrees were awarded to women. Recognizing that OT had equipped me with advocacy and problem-solving skills to help dismantle this barrier, I took action. Driven by my interest in leveraging data for social good, and because the resources I sought out didn’t exist, I built them.

I created ACCESS TO ECON (A2E), a resource hub empowering teenagers worldwide, especially young women, with the tools and guidance to explore a future in economics. Through a monthly podcast, mentorship program, and an Econ Starter Kit, available in English and Spanish, A2E provides accessible education, real-world role models, and practical career paths to ensure the next generation of leaders has the support they need to thrive.

Join me on this journey to challenge assumptions, analyze data, and unlock the power of economics!
